4th Grade Grad/Awards Ceremony

This year Adam graduated from 4th Grade!  I had all good intentions of getting lots of pictures at his ceremony, (and during his awards ceremony) but things don't always go as planned.

I got this not so great picture the evening of his graduation.  Adam is in the 2nd row back 2nd from the left.  (His best friend, Kasey, is beside him in red).  All the 4th graders got on stage to sing the school Alma Mater.

When Adam went across the stage to get his certificate, he went so fast I couldn't get a picture.

The next day we had an awards ceremony.  Again, Adam moved so fast I could not get pictures.  He got 5 awards: Perfect attendance, Art Club, Eagle Club, Drama Club, and Eagle Singers.  This boy has kept me busy this year (and I wouldn't change that!)

It really made me laugh.  When Adam would get his certificate he would go on stage, just like he was directed.  Then his arm with the certificate would go in the air as if to say, "I did it!!"  He seemed so proud with each certificate.

I may not have gotten many pictures, but I am truly proud of all the Adam did this year.

Field Day

The last week of school there are so many fun activities that are planned for the kids.  This year Adam was at my school, so I was able to see him during some of these activities.

One thing they plan for the kids is Field Day.  They put several games/stations in the middle of the track and the kids rotate so they all get to play at all the stations.

At one station they soaked fabric type balls in buckets of water and the kids could throw them at each other.  They didn't hurt because they were fabric, but the one getting hit by the ball would get wet.  Good thing it was a hot day!

Adam was wearing his glasses at this station.  As I walked by I could hear him getting frustrated that every time he got hit his glasses got wet.  I took his glasses since it was close to the end of the day anyhow.  He had a lot more fun after that  :)

When Adam moved to Stone Spring from Waterman he was a bit disappointed that he would not get to do what he had seen other 4th graders do.  However, I don't know of another school that does a field day quite like this.

I am so glad that I was able to see Adam this year, as we pass in the hall or say hi in the cafeteria.  I was really happy that he could participate in a fun day like field day.

Just a Tree

The other weekend we went to PA to visit Mike's parents.  One afternoon Mike took the boys out to the river (I'm not sure it is really a river, but that is what we call it.)  They found a very interesting tree while exploring there.

Someone added the eyes and nose to this very interesting tree to make it look like a face.

Adam could not resist.  His dramatic side came out!

Not too many people can say they have been bitten by a tree!

In Adam's Sleep

The other night I was woke up by a noise.  The noise came from one of the boys.  I laid in bed trying to figure out if I needed to get up.  Adam had already talked and walked in his sleep, so I thought that was out of his system.  I heard it again.  Is someone sick? No, it's not the right sound.  I heard it again.  Wait....is someone crying?   What?!  So, I get up and check Adam first, turns out that is where the noise is coming from.  I open his door to see him sitting on his bed, doubled over in laughter.  I tell him to lay down, so he does, but continues to giggle.

I sure do wish I knew what he was dreaming about.

Toothless

We went to Grandma and Grandpa W's this past weekend.  Austin lost a tooth each day we were there.  I joke with him that if we had stayed longer he would have left toothless.  These are the 13th and 14th teeth he has lost.

The other weekend Austin was having a pain.  He told me I should call Carol since she is a nurse.  I had already done this, but she didn't know much about this area (ortho)  I explained to him that she was Oncology.  He said, "Oh, is that one of those nurses that doesn't go to College?"  I was so confused, but then I heard it like he did "Un-College-y"  I don't think I will ever hear that word the same again.

Sometimes Austin really surprises us!  He is able to wear jeans and a t-shirt to school but every now and then he dresses like this...
I'm not sure what inspires him to wear a tie and suit coat to school and certain days, but I will not argue!  I think he looks quite handsome.

Without Him Knowing....

We have started the process of orthodontics.  Adam is VERY crowded and the orthodontist suggested we have 2 teeth removed in order to give a little space in his mouth.  I made the appointment a while back, and it came up on us this week.

I took Adam to the Dentist office and he acted very calm and cook in the waiting room.  I was a nervous mess inside-for him.  The dental assistant came and got him.  He hadn't been back very long and she told me he was done.  WOW!!  I walked with her to go back and see him.  She stopped me before we got within ear shot of Adam.  She told me that the teeth were out, but he did not know it yet.  The dentist apparently came in, "wiggled" the teeth to see how loose they were.  They then told Adam that put magic gauze on his teeth and when they pull that out the teeth would be gone.  They told him all this because when he got out of my range he got very nervous and they found this calms kids down.  He didn't know that what he was told was a story until we were half way home.

The root on the one tooth is so long I don't know how he didn't know more, but I'm glad he didn't.

Both teeth are lower teeth, they are m and r (for my future reference-I can look them up later ;)

These are the 9th and 10th teeth that Adam has lost.
