Not His Fault

Yesterday I had a procedure to take care of a varicose vein that has been bothering me for a very long time.

Prior to having that done, I had a meeting a school with Adam's teachers.  One of his teachers told me that he had told her that this was going to be done and he said, "It is my fault that she has to have this done."

It was NOT his fault, but I was shocked to find that he was taking blame for it!

When the boys were little, maybe 1&3 or 2&4, I took them on a wagon ride.  We were going to have a wonderful afternoon at the park.  There was a hill in the road.  I lost control of the wagon and it hit my leg.  That trauma was enough to cause my vein.

I told his teacher it was not Adam's fault--I blame totally on gravity!

Following His Daddy's Footsteps

There are only a few things that I can say I really dislike doing.
    1. I do not like to empty the clean silverware rack from the dishwasher.
    2. I do not like to fold socks.
    3. I do not like to crawl into a cold bed on a winter night!

The first 2 jobs I delegate out to other family members.  The last "dislike" is more of a problem.

I'm not exactly sure when, but at some point Mike started to lay on my side of the bed while I was getting ready.  That way when I was ready for bed I crawled in to an already warm spot.  (sweet, huh?)  We have done this for several years already.  Now, we are to the point where I will tell him, "I'm going to get ready for bed, gonna warm my spot?"  And he willingly does.

Last night, Mike was out running a few errands, I was totally exhausted, I had to go to bed.  Austin was headed that way too.  I had him tucked in and headed to our room.  I was in the bathroom when I heard a little tap on the door.  I opened it, there was Austin.  He said, "Since Daddy is not home, would you like me to warm your spot?"

"YES!!"  I was so impressed that he thought of that on his own.

When I went to bed Austin said, "It's not as warm as Daddy would have it."  He was right, but that fact that he wanted me to have a warm bed, made up for anything else!!

His wife can thank me one day when she is able to crawl into a nice warm spot on a cold winter night.

My Boys Make Me Smile

Last evening there were several times that I just had to smile at something the boys either said or did.  I decided that I needed to record these.  Maybe if there is a time that I need a quick laugh or smile, I can look this up again.

I found out some time ago that Adam's math teacher is expecting a baby in the summer.  I decided that I would crochet a baby afghan for her.  I knew that she was going to hold off on telling her students.  So, when Adam would ask me who the afghan was for, I would be very vague.  Last night I decided while I listened to him practice his violin I would take a few minutes to work on the afghan.  When he was done he, again, asked who it was for.  I decided to find out his he knew yet.  So, I asked him, "Do you know anyone that is having a baby?"  Adam said, "Yes, 2 people."  Oh, I did not know 2 people, so I asked, "who?"  he replied, "Well, my math teacher and my homeroom teacher."  I did not know anything about his homeroom teacher, so I wanted to find out why he thought  this.  "Adam, did your homeroom teacher TELL you she was pregnant?" Adam thought and said, "I can't remember, but this is what I know 1. She got married in the summer and it is now winter and the proof of it is: She left the other day after lunch and we had a sub."

WOW!!  If point 2 is the proof of being pregnant, I'm in trouble!!  I'm taking a 1/2 day this week!!

(I will find out for sure this week when I meet with her  :)

Austin heard the word cocktail recently.  Last night, he came up to me and asked, "What exactly is a cocktail?"  I told him I think of it as a small alcoholic drink.  He looked at me quizzically and said, "I thought it had to do with a plane."

"No, my dear, that is called a cockpit."

We have a friend that flies airplanes.  Austin thinks very highly of this friend.  He wanted to make sure I told him about this.  I'm sure he had a good laugh.
