Easter Eggs

It is Easter time!  For years we have dyed eggs with the boys at Easter.  I wondered this year if the boys would feel they were too old to be doing "such things."

Friday after Adam got out of school (Austin had the day off for Good Friday, Adam and I had to go for snow make up days) we got together with Grace and colored eggs.

I really think the boys like to help show Grace new things-like how to color eggs.

But this year, we have Jason.  Jason had never colored eggs before, so the boys were able to show him how it is done as well.
The eggs turned out in very vibrant colors!  We have stopped using the kits you buy and doing vinegar and food coloring.  The colors are much brighter, and it uses items that are usually in the kitchen anyhow.

Adam tried to act out the Humpty Dumpty story with his eggs.

Here is his poor Humpty.  He looks a little beaten and battered from his fall.

This year was the most stress free egg coloring that I can remember.  The boys knew what to do, and I could just stand back and watch them have fun!

Payment

A few things to know about Adam.  He LOVES his screen time (we have to put limits on this child), and his teeth are very crowded.

Recently, the orthodontist suggested that we have some teeth extracted due to crowding.  I made the appointment and we are waiting.

The other day, Adam was eating something  and he mentioned that a certain way he bit,  it made his tooth loose.  I told him to work on that.  (I'm thinking, if he can get it out then I won't have to pay for the extraction)

I told him if he gets the tooth out before the extraction date I would give him $10!  He looked at me and said, "How does that convert to screen time?"

I told him it would be an extra hour.

He was very excited and walked away working on that tooth.

And Then There Were 8!

In the past few months I have taken the boys to a couple of orthodontist so they can start watching them. That way they can best advise when to put braces on.

When we went to the first orthodontist, as she had Austin climb in the chair, I told her he still has several baby teeth.  She looked at me like, "OK, I've seen kids this age before......"  She looked in Austin's mouth and said, "WOW!!  he still has lots of baby teeth.  He still has 9 to loose!  I responded with, "Yep!  My babies were late teethers.

Austin has had a tooth that has been wiggly and a bit annoying for some time.  (We are the type of parents that will let the child decide how hard they want to work on their loose teeth.  Having a loose tooth won't harm them and it won't make them feel any fear in telling us about their loose teeth that we might come after them to pull it out.)

The other morning Austin walked out of his room and came into the kitchen where I was.  He started talking about the day ahead, and what he wanted to eat for breakfast.  After about 5 minutes he tells me, "Oh, I finally got rid of that annoying tooth."

WHAT?!   I would have thought that would have been the first thing he told me!

He had 9 baby teeth, but now there are 8.

Mustang Sally

Mustang Sally.  I looked it up.  Turns out it was a band, a song, some people name their car that, it is a lot of things.  However, I never expected this...

Austin has become very aware of physical fitness recently.  He has started to do an at home workout and asked for some weights.  Mike bought him some "not too heavy, but heavy enough" weights the other day.  He has been so excited to use these weights!

The other evening I was working in the kitchen.  Austin came me and said, "Mom, look at this!"  He rolled up his sleeves and showed me...

...he had named his biceps Mustang and Sally.

Oh My!!  I laughed and laughed.  The picture is a bit blurry because I could not stop laughing!!

I am glad he is into physical fitness, I am glad he has a sense of humor, and I am certainly glad he used marker that will eventually wash off!  :)
