Riches

Today, Adam created a "study guide" so that someone could write a fact on a card and check themselves (essentially it was a fancy flashcard.)   He was telling us how it could be modified to what our children are learning.

I looked at Adam and said, "One day you are going to invent something wonderful and become a millionaire."

Adam, very seriously, looked at me and said, "In Sunday School I learned that it is easier to get a camel through the eye of a needle than it is to have riches and get into heaven.  I don't think I want to be a millionaire."

This boy never ceases to amaze me!!

Violin Concert

I have mentioned several times that Adam took violin this past year.  About 2 weeks ago they had their end of the year concert.

Adam decided that he did not want to do this concert.   As it turned out Adam's best friend, Noah, was not doing the concert either.

I talked to Noah's mother and we said, we can make it fun for our boys.   I ordered  pizza. The boys had fun making it into a picnic.

We had the boys play on the top level of the fort!  They had quite the stage!!

I even added ice cream with toppings for dessert.

All the boys, even Noah's brother, got on the trampoline to jump after their "concert."

It was not the concert in front of lots of people, but they had their siblings, parents and grandparents.  But, most important, they had fun. Above is a picture of the 2 sets of grandparents that were special enough to get an invitation  to this small, but wonderful musical event.

Yerp-a-Derp

Every now and then, Austin will come up with his own type of vocabulary.

Most recently, instead of saying "yes", "yeah", or even "yup", Austin will say, "Yerp-a-Derp."

This is not they type of phrase I would want him to say if he were to be meeting the queen of England.  However, at home, is show a little bit of his personality.

So, if asked if I'm okay with him saying this.  My response would have to be....

"Yerp-a-Derp"

A Decision Has Been Made!

I did a post earlier this month about May Day.  I did not include the pictures that I took of Adam, because I waiting to see what we would decide.  Now that we have decided I  can explain what I have been pondering for more than a month now.

Right before Easter, Mike was contacted by a friend of ours.  He works at a local Mennonite High School.  He said there was a job opening, and he thought that Mike should apply.  Mike looked into it and decided he was in the best possible position.  He loved the job he is currently in, and this job looked great too.  He applied, and ended up getting the position.

Now the question comes, what do we do with the boys?  Austin was easy, he was going with Mike.  But Adam,  Do we send him to the Elementary school that is connected to the High School? (that is a pretty high tuition)  Do we keep him at Waterman for 1 more year.  (that would mean that 3 schools for 4 members to our family.  How would we get Adam home after school?  Would anyone be home?  Do we pay for after school care for the 15 minutes that I might be behind him.  I love the resource teacher he has at Waterman, but can I keep him there just because of her?)  Then a thought hit us, what if we would send Adam to my school?  ( I was nervous about this because It would mean a change to a new school in 4th grade, then a new school in 5th grade (5th grade is in the middle school here), then in 6th he would start the middle school--most likely--with Mike.)  That is a lot of changes in just a few years.)

Now, the reason for the delay in my post.  I took pictures of Adam at May Day, but I wasn't sure if this would be his last May Day--as my school does not celebrate May Day.  I wanted make that remark on his may day pictures, if that was to be the case.  So, I held off until I knew what we were going to do next year.

So we asked Adam "How does going to Mommy's school sound to you?  His first question was, "Will I get to be the new student?"  "Well, I guess you will be the new student."  He was very excited about that.

So, now I can officially say that these are pictures of Adam's LAST MAY DAY AT WATERMAN.

Adam is sitting on the hill with some of his friends.  His teacher, Mrs. Brown is the blue shirt behind him.  His math teacher Mrs. Caffo is in the grayish shirt to the left.

Adam's grade level did a dance that sounded Hawaiian.  (Huki Lau--I think-that is probably spelled very wrong.)

A picture of most of the children in his grade.  Adam is in the gold shirt kind of in the center.  If you look at the May Pole, Adam is about 3 people to the right, center row.

Waterman is a wonderful school. I have loved having my boys at this school. I have been so happy that Mike has been employed there for 14 years. But, for family sanity, Adam will not be there next year.

Easter Litany

This post is by far over due!!

We had a picture, but somewhere is the midst of life, it got lost.  It was from a distance and not the best quality.  I'm saying this to either :  1.  Make myself feel better, even though we lost the picture or 2.  Let it be known that an imagination is the only way you will see this happening.

I was asked a few Sundays before Easter to do a Litnay with my boys.  Austin wanted absolutely no part in this.  So, it was up to Adam and myself.  Adam was a great sport and participated.  We had some motions that went with the verbiage that was on the page.

I, honestly, could not see Adam the whole time we were up there--since I was next to him doing the same thing.  But whenever I did get to glance at him we was very animated with his motions.  (Putting one hand out to the left and saying the words, then the other hand out to the right and saying words, then saying Impossible with the hands going scissor like in front)

I may not have pictures of this event, but I know I will remember it.  I felt this was a very special time to have  with my little boy.  I hope he remembers it as well.

Mrs. Long

Earlier this year Adam was having trouble in school.  We had several meetings and got him some help.  Mrs. Long started to work with him a little every day.  Almost immediately we could see a difference in Adam, and in his grades.  He loves his time with Mrs. Long--and she often comments on how she enjoys her time with Adam.

Today was May Day at Mike and Adam's school.  At the end of the program everyone goes down to do the "singing in the rain" dance.  I had been talking to Mrs. Long up to that point.  We decided to go down to dance with Adam.

I think he enjoyed us dancing with him.

Then, I needed one good picture of the two of them.

There are many things in life that I am not sure of.  However, one thing I know for certain:  Mrs. Long is an angel is disguise!!

Inflatable Monster

Earlier this month Mike's parents came for a visit.  We went to a restaurant for dinner one night.  Of course, the boys finished their dinner before my parents, Mike's parents, or I was done.  There is a car lot next to the restaurant that has an inflatable monster.  The boys had fun taking some pictures with the monster.

When I downloaded this picture, I thought Austin was comparing muscles with the monster.  It wasn't until it was on my blog that I realized he wanted it to look like he was picking the monsters nose-oh, life with my boys...

The next 2 crack me up!!

Our boys keep things lively, there is never a dull moment here.  And I think I want to keep it that way  :)
