Swim Team

I feel it is very important for my boys to learn to swim.  I said they needed to take lessons until the passed a certain level.  Austin passed this level when we took lessons in the fall.

This spring I got an idea!  I told Adam he could either take lessons OR he could join swim team.  Swim team meets every evening for about 2 months.  After we talked, we decided that he would probably make more progress with swim team than just 2 weeks of lessons.  So, I signed him up.

They swim laps, work on different strokes, and in general have fun.

They have swim meets against other swim teams.  It's always fun to add a little competition!  Adam signed up for 1 race.  It was free style.  Little did I know that free style was one of the last events in the swim meets.  We were at the pool for close to 4 hours before he finally got to swim in his event!  He waited patiently (most of the time).  I have to admit, it did feel like a long 4 hours.  He was a good sport!

Our local pool just got a rock climbing wall.  Adam was so anxious to give it a try.  The swim team had a pool party.  PERFECT!!  Adam can try out the climbing wall....so he did!

He went right to the area where you wait for your turn...

Jumped right in and swam to the wall.....

Made his way up the wall....
And gave a big thumbs up to show how he really feels about this wall!  :)

I have to say, I think Adam spent most of the evening right here at this wall.  He had a great time!

4th Grade Grad/Awards Ceremony

This year Adam graduated from 4th Grade!  I had all good intentions of getting lots of pictures at his ceremony, (and during his awards ceremony) but things don't always go as planned.

I got this not so great picture the evening of his graduation.  Adam is in the 2nd row back 2nd from the left.  (His best friend, Kasey, is beside him in red).  All the 4th graders got on stage to sing the school Alma Mater.

When Adam went across the stage to get his certificate, he went so fast I couldn't get a picture.

The next day we had an awards ceremony.  Again, Adam moved so fast I could not get pictures.  He got 5 awards: Perfect attendance, Art Club, Eagle Club, Drama Club, and Eagle Singers.  This boy has kept me busy this year (and I wouldn't change that!)

It really made me laugh.  When Adam would get his certificate he would go on stage, just like he was directed.  Then his arm with the certificate would go in the air as if to say, "I did it!!"  He seemed so proud with each certificate.

I may not have gotten many pictures, but I am truly proud of all the Adam did this year.

Field Day

The last week of school there are so many fun activities that are planned for the kids.  This year Adam was at my school, so I was able to see him during some of these activities.

One thing they plan for the kids is Field Day.  They put several games/stations in the middle of the track and the kids rotate so they all get to play at all the stations.

At one station they soaked fabric type balls in buckets of water and the kids could throw them at each other.  They didn't hurt because they were fabric, but the one getting hit by the ball would get wet.  Good thing it was a hot day!

Adam was wearing his glasses at this station.  As I walked by I could hear him getting frustrated that every time he got hit his glasses got wet.  I took his glasses since it was close to the end of the day anyhow.  He had a lot more fun after that  :)

When Adam moved to Stone Spring from Waterman he was a bit disappointed that he would not get to do what he had seen other 4th graders do.  However, I don't know of another school that does a field day quite like this.

I am so glad that I was able to see Adam this year, as we pass in the hall or say hi in the cafeteria.  I was really happy that he could participate in a fun day like field day.

Just a Tree

The other weekend we went to PA to visit Mike's parents.  One afternoon Mike took the boys out to the river (I'm not sure it is really a river, but that is what we call it.)  They found a very interesting tree while exploring there.

Someone added the eyes and nose to this very interesting tree to make it look like a face.

Adam could not resist.  His dramatic side came out!

Not too many people can say they have been bitten by a tree!
